The Prayer Shawl Ministry is newer to St. Gabe's church, and meets weekly to create beautiful prayer shawls for those in need of them (knit or crochet). Prayer Shawls come with a prayer and medal attached. They are made with prayful intent for the the receiver. Father blesses the shawls and those who create them.
Shawls can be used for: undergoing medical procedures; as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress; during bereavement; prayer or meditation; commitment or marriage ceremonies; births; nursing a baby; bridal shower or wedding gift; during an illness and recovery; ministering to others and other social occasions.
Parishioners can receive a shawl for themselves or someone in need by contacting the rectory at 716-668-4017. or Ann Bauman, who leads the group, at 716-684-1732.
If you'd like to donate a prayer shawl but can't make the meetings, you are welcome to do so! There are also times during the year when this ministry requests yarn to make the shawls; there will be a notice in the bulletin when yarn is needed.
Meetings: Tuesdays at 1 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Knitters and Crocheters are welcome!
Contact Ann Bauman at 716-684-1732 for more information.
