Bereavement Committee

The Bereavement Committee at St. Gabe's helps to provide a smooth process for grieving families.  During this difficult time for a family, the committee meets with bereaved families to provide support to help choose readings, music and discuss other information for the funeral mass.

The Bereavement Committee welcomes new members who want to help families during this difficult time.  Mature young adults and adults who are interested in helping can contact the rectory at 716.668.4017 and leave a message for Barb Fields, who heads this committee.  The time required depends on the family- meetings with families can take place during the day or evening hours as needed.  There is also a need for choir members during the funeral times.  Sometimes, this committee needs to be open to partaking in tasks last minute (meetings, funerals).  What we offer families during this time is invaluable and the families are very appreciative of the support we provide in guiding them to plan their loved one's funeral.
