The Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Gabe's church meets monthly to create beautiful prayer shawls for those in need of them (knit or crochet). Prayer Shawls come with a prayer attached. They are made with prayerful intent for the the receiver. Father blesses the shawls and those who create them.
Shawls can be used for: undergoing medical procedures, as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress, during bereavement, prayer or meditation, during an illness and recovery, and ministering to others.
Parishioners can receive a shawl for themselves or someone in need by contacting the rectory at 716-668-4017, Sandy Gmerek at 716-683-6673, or Peggy Fronckowiak at 716-912-3871.
If you'd like to donate a prayer shawl but can't make the meetings, you are welcome to do so! There are also times during the year when this ministry requests yarn to make the shawls; there will be a notice in the bulletin when yarn is needed, or you can donate any time by contacting Sandy or Peggy.
Meetings: 1st Tuesday of the month from 1-3pm in the Parish Center. Knitters and Crocheters are welcome! Contact Sandy or Peggy for more information.
