An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion's role is to assist the priest with distribution of the Holy Eucharist and Precious Blood during Mass.
A one-day training session is given at parishes throughout the Diocese throughout the year. We usually need 6-8 Ministers at each weekend and holy day Mass. Scheduling depends on the number of volunteers for a particular Mass.
A prerequisite for an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is that they have made their Confirmation in the Catholic Church and are in good standing with the Catholic Church. This means that they should have received their sacraments in the Catholic faith, they have been married in a Catholic Church, and are attending Mass weekly.
Please prayerfully consider being a part of our Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Ministry at St. Gabe's! If you need information on any of the current training available for any of these positions, please contact the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Coordinator, Richard Luczak, at 716-572-5520.
